Finding Falke’s photography gear

It can be very intimidating to research and buy new camera gear. I find it terrifying to spend big amounts of money on material things so looking for camera bodies, lenses and photography accessories are all very scary to me. Throughout my blogging life, I have expanded my gear from my old camera with just a single lens that I bought when I was 14 years old to a quickly expanding camera bag that I take with me on all my travels. My photography gear definitely isn’t the most extensive, but I find it works perfectly well for what I need from it as a travel blogger.

CAMERA

SONY A7 II body

For me, when I’m looking for equipment what I really look at is size and quality while still keeping a certain budget in mind. I opted for a mirrorless camera because I felt like I didn’t want or need a heavy camera body like a DSLR to create beautiful content. The Sony A7 II is a little heavier than a lot of new mirrorless cameras because of the use of magnesium alloy. But this also ensures this camera is a little more resilient which is a good thing for someone who travels as much as me.
This camera is my main camera for both photos and videos. I find this one the perfect camera to carry around and snap some photos throughout the day.

LENSES

SONY SEL 28-70mm OSS

This lens is my go-to lens, my little workhorse. I use it all the time! This is a great lens to just point and shoot some pics throughout the day and this is also what I generally shoot with for more typically framed photos for my blog and Instagram. I find this the best and easiest all-around lens that also stays very true to what you see with the naked eye.

SONY FE 50mm F/1.8

The first time I was able to try this lens out was because my friend @vanessaa.hn had one and I immediately fell in love with it. This one is a little harder to play around with when you don’t have someone behind the camera. However, this is a beautiful lens for portraits and product photography. Being a fixed lens means you can create some really interesting shots and play around with the focus to catch some amazing details when taking pics.

TRIPODS

TRIPOD CAMERA – AmazonBasics 60-Inch Lightweight Tripod with Bag

My tripod, better known as Bertha, is my favourite piece on this list. It has been such a game-changer. No more awkwardly asking strangers to take my pictures whenever I am wandering on my own.

TRIPOD PHONE – UBeesize Phone Tripod

Did I mention I love tripods? I will be honest I use this little tripod for everything. Like any normal person, I use it to take some pics but I am often too lazy to hold my phone up whenever I am watching YouTube or Netflix on my phone. I also use this one to clip my phone on my bicycle to film. I lost enough teeth falling off my bicycle. Be safe, people!

PHONE

PHONE – OnePlus 9 Pro

This thing is basically glued to my hand (quite literally! You can read the story of my almost stolen phone here) so it’s no surprise my phone made it to this list. I always have it with me so of course, I use it to take pictures and videos too. Most phone cameras are almost as good as ‘real’ cameras so why not take advantage of the fact that you have your phone with you anyway?

ACCESSORIES & EXTRAS

SD CARD – SANDISK EXTREME PRO 128GB

A must-have for everyone who takes pictures or makes videos! This SD card will handle it without problems. So there is no need to worry about a full memory card while travelling!

EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE

Of all accessories, this one is the most essential! I always back up my content just in case something might happen to my laptop and to free some space on my phone and camera.

CHARGERS AND BATTERIES

Not only do I have chargers for my cameras and laptop, but I also always bring an extra battery for my camera.

ELECTRONIC ORGANISER – BAGSMART

If you’re anything like me, you probably have at least 1 million different chords and cables. I mean have you read the list above. This organiser is immensely helpful for anyone who travels with lots of different electrical items.

That’s it! I hope you liked my photography gear and feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

I love the phone tripod! So versatile and you can have it portrait or landscape. I also love the kit! I can never figure out how to organise everything, not just for a camera but just any cords as well.

Hi, Falke! I love this list! I used to bring bulky SLRs to my trips, but I discovered the wonders of mirrorless cameras and traded my old DSLRs a few years back! ๐Ÿ™‚ Tripods are real lifesavers! ๐Ÿ™‚
